Winifred Josephine Vickers, 92, of Taylors Landing, MD, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at her home. Born June 15, 1923 in Sharpsburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Harry Hyde Semler, Sr. and Ida Mae (Shrader) Semler. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Russell Vickers in July 1966. Winifred was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church of Bakersville, MD, and had attended the Love Grove Here Congregation. She attended Fairplay School and received her GED diploma. She was employed with Grand Union and Acme Markets in the meat department, and worked in food service at Saint James School in St. James, MD. She is survived by one daughter, Ann Baker and husband, William, of Fairplay, MD; three grandchildren: Holly Spickler and husband, John, of Shepherdstown, WV and their children, Lauren, Joshua and Justin; Brad Baker and wife, Melissa, of Myersville, MD and their children, Garrett and Grant; and Bryan Baker and wife, Gulya and their children, Dany and Russell. She is also survived by sisters, Betty Butts, Peggy Donegan, and Nancy Cronise; and brother, Joseph Semler. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Sarah Eby, Gladys Williams, Hilda Baker, and Evelyn Clouser; and brothers, Harold Semler, Sr., Harry Semler, Jr., Roy Semler, and Lloyd Semler. Services will be held 1pm Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Rev. John Torrence will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg, MD. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8pm at the funeral home.
