William "Mr. Bill" Winfield Smith, 91, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024. Born August 22, 1932 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Harlan Winfield Smith and Barbara Ellen (Lewis) Smith.

Bill was a 1951 graduate of Hagerstown High School. He enlisted in the US Navy and served for 10 years. He retired from Mack Truck and also retired from Merkle Response. He was an avid golfer and loved to read.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Smith; three children, Michele Smith, Pamela Sumlin (husband, Roy), and Jennifer Hines (husband, Matt); stepdaughter, Robin Osik (husband, Stephen) and Blaine "Jay" Snyder (wife, Sonnie); 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two sisters, Dortha Mumma and Armatha Barnhart; and brother, Herbert Smith.

There will be a graveside service at 2pm on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 W. Washington Street, Hagerstown, MD.
