Obituary

WILLIAM GODFREY TARSUS, 83, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away at John's Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md., on Thursday, November 20, 2014. Born August 10, 1931 in Shamokin, PA, he was the son of the late Walter and Edith Gilham Tarsus. William served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Morris Frock Post #42, Williamsport Red Men Tribe #84, and the AMVETS Post #10. William was also a member of the Hagerstown Bible Church. He was a valued greeter and parts runner who was frequently known as "Pops" or "Mr. Bill", while helping his daughter and her husband at Cumberland Valley Recycling. William was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Tarsus, who passed away in June 2007, after 54 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughter, Billie Jo Sellers and husband, Mark, of Boonsboro, Md.; grandson, Matthew (Levi) Sellers, and girlfriend Brittany Poole, of Hagerstown; and niece, Dian Dingle and husband, Earnie, of Dillsburg, Pa. In addition to his parents and wife, William was also preceded by a sister, Niad Keckler. Services will be held at 11am Tuesday, November 25, at Minnich Funeral home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Rev. Dale R. Carver will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hagerstown Bible Church, 203 Summit Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
