WILLIAM CARL KEMP, 86 of Hagerstown, Maryland, died February 25, 2007, at Washington County Hospital following the illness of Alzheimer's disease. Mr. Kemp was born January 8, 1921 in Easton, Maryland, the son of the late Lemuel C. and Martha Cox Kemp. Following graduation from Easton High School, he served as a Captain in the Army Air Force, flying 69 missions over Europe as a bomber pilot with the 386th Bombardment Group in England. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Bronze Air Medal. Following his discharge, he attended Maryland Institute of Art where he met his future wife. He was employed by Fairchild and then Harry Kahn Associates until his retirement. For many years, Bill and his wife Margie had a business making miniature dollhouse furniture and traveled to shows in many states. He was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and Trustee. For years he was scoutmaster of Troop 5, Boy Scouts of America, held at the church. For some years, he was a member of the Lions Club of Halfway. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Green Kemp; two daughters, Karen Fries and husband Jerry of Mt. Prospect, Il. and Sue Troxell and husband Tim of Hagerstown; two sons, David Kemp and wife Nora of Greensburg, Pa. and Stephen Kemp and wife Carol of Shepherdstown, W. Va.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Linda Bainbridge, Mary Muller and Hazel Satchell; and two brothers, Edgar Kemp and Thomas Kemp. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. Janice Trammell-Savin will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Presbyterian Church, 20 S.
