Dr. William Henry Freed, Jr., 90, of Hagerstown, MD, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at his home. He was born November 4th, 1935, in Baltimore, MD. He was the son of the late William H. Freed, Sr. and Mary V. Freed.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara "Susan" Freed. He is also survived by his children, Thomas Freed, Timothy Freed, and Tamara Freed (husband, Mark); his grandchildren, Joshua Hornbaker, Jenna Hornbaker, Jordan Freed, Brooke Freed, Victoria Freed, Chandler Freed; and his great-grandchildren, Memphis Freed and Nash Freed.

William proudly served his country as a U.S. Navy Seabee and was a graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and Johns Hopkins University.

He was employed as a mechanical engineer at Mack Truck before answering the call to full-time Christian ministry where he dedicated his life for 50 years to Broadfording Bible Brethren Church. He was a spiritual leader for those he was blessed to shepherd throughout his ministry, which extended beyond the walls of Broadfording, reaching many throughout the community and surrounding areas.

He loved his family, sharing many Myrtle Beach trips with his children and grandchildren, and spending his Sundays while vacationing with his second church family at Grand Strand Baptist Church.

His passion was sharing the gospel with everyone he encountered as his love for the Lord directed his every action with the knowledge that the only question that truly matters is where one will spend eternity.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Broadfording Church, 13523 Broadfording Church Rd., Hagerstown, MD 21740 with Pastor Bill Wyand officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
