William Charles Forbes, 94, of Mercersburg, PA, passed away May 21, 2025, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.

Born September 5, 1930, in Rockford, IL, he was the son of the late Clayton Dewey and Elsie Mariann (Savonell) Forbes.

He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Hagerstown. He was an associate of the American Legion Post 517 in Mercersburg and member of the Arbor Day Foundation.

He loved to farm, work on puzzles, and tinker in his workshop. He worked for various organizations including Roper Eastern, JLG, Martin Millwork, and was a consultant for Mack Truck.

William is survived by his wife, Florence Forbes; two daughters, Jeanette Forbes Alfrey and Julia Forbes; one son, James "Jamie" Forbes; three stepdaughters, Frances Knott, Sarah Burak, and Carolyn Susan Gilbert Banas; and three stepsons, Ralph "Buck" Weaver, Thomas Weaver, and Richard Paul Gilbert II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife; his second wife, Sandra Forbes; two sisters, Shirley Sherman and Dorothy Williams; and two brothers, Raymond and Darrell Forbes.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 101 S. Prospect St, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church.
