Willard "Jack" Perry Higgins, 87, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025. He was born on January 17, 1937 in Indian Springs to the late Willard "Tuck" Higgins and Mary Elizabeth Dick Higgins.
He graduated from Clear Spring High School in 1954. Willard was a United States Navy veteran and proudly served on the USS Antietam CVS-36, traveling through the Near East, Middle East, and the Mediterranean. He was a member of the American Legion Post 42 for many years. Willard worked as a plant engineer for Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick, MD for several years and learned to sign. He was employed by the state of Maryland at the Maryland Department of Corrections for over 22 years. He was particularly proud of his accomplishment to learn piano as an older adult. Most of all, Willard was well thought of in the community and will be missed by many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Eugene Higgins.
He is survived by his siblings, Samuel Higgins, Cleta Cox, and Dona "Doe" Humphries, and his nephews, Erik Cox and Yanson Cox.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
