WALLACE LEO CARTER, 78, of Hagerstown, Maryland, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 15, 2007. Born September 24, 1928 in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Joseph Markwood and Thelma Lucille McCleary Carter. He owned and operated Wally's Dry Cleaners in Hagerstown for twenty-five years. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Funkstown Moose Lodge, the Elks Club of Waynesboro, Ravens Roost #7, Redmen Club of Williamsport, and a former member of Eagles Inc. #694 of Waynesboro, and the Wilson Ruritan. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Lorraine Hofe Carter; two daughters, Beverly DuSing, and husband Ronnie DuSing, of Hagerstown, and Brenda Kidwell-Schlosser, and husband Roger Schlosser III, of Hagerstown; one sister, Constance Zello of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Jon Somerlade, Jodi Lyn Marsden, and Lori Lyn Austin; great-grandchildren, Kirran and Kaili Somerlade, and Christopher and Taylor Marsden; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Thomas Carter, Johnny Eugene Carter, and Terry Lee Balsley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Friday at the MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Rev. Jay Fretz will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
