VIRGINIA M. WARD. 81, of 209 Black Hill Road, Plainfield, Connecticut, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the Haven Health Care Nursing Home in Danielson, Connecticut. Born December 17, 1926 in Beaver Creek, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Ellen Bryan. She previously operated a Howard Johnson's Restaurant in Hagerstown, and later raised race horses for twenty-seven years near Sharpsburg, Maryland. She is survived by one daughter, Sharen Besece of Killingly, CT; one son, Gary Bollinger of Plainfield, CT; one sister, Margaret MacKenzie of Ocala, FL; six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews in the Hagerstown area. She was preceded in death by her husband Major Richard T. Ward on April 7, 1989; one daughter, Jennifer K. (Ginger) Spaulding; three sisters, Agnes Bryan, Caroline Bryan, and Ellen Holton; and three brothers, Oscar Bryan, Lewis Bryan, and Wilson Bryan. All who knew her loved her, and she loved them in return with all of her heart. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Tuesday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. Major Carroll Braun from the Salvation Army, will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown. Visitation will be 7:00 p. m. till 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
