VIOLET BERTHA MCCARNEY, 83, OF 18023 Putter Drive, Hagerstown, Maryland, died Saturday, June 25, 2005 at her home. Born December 6, 1921 in Star City, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late, Harry A. and Minnie Brewer Higgins. She was previously employed with Fairchild Aircraft. She was a member of the Virginia Avenue Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Harry B. McCarney; two daughters, Betsy M. Wagoner of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Barbara J. Hose of Hagerstown, Maryland; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Mauk and Ethel Gayhoff; four brothers, George Higgins, Floyd Higgins, Harry Higgins and Arthur Higgins; one granddaughter.. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Virginia Avenue Baptist Church, 17425 Virginia Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland. The Rev. Shane Stauffer will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown, Maryland from 7 to 9 p.m. and half hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
