Vernon Lee McSherry, 86, born August 25, 1938, passed away July 5, 2025. He was the son of the late James Floyd and Genevieve (Bishop) McSherry.

Vernon graduated from Hagerstown High School with the class of 1958. He was employed by Dorbee Manufacturing Co for 18 years, then worked at Pangborn Corp. for 5 years, and prior to his retirement in 2002, he was employed at Conservit Metal Corporation for 28 years.

He was married to his loving wife Carolyn for 60 years. They enjoyed traveling with family to the cabin in Cowans Cap, PA. as well as crabbing in St. Michaels and vacationing in Wildwood N.J.

Vernon enjoyed fishing, puzzles, and spending time with his family, children, and grandchildren. He was a long time Baltimore Orioles and University of Maryland fan; he loved watching NFL football. (His favorite team may have been whoever won the year before.)

He coached minor league baseball at West End Little League. He was a member of the Civitan Club and past President.

He is survived by his two sons Michael McSherry, wife Linda, and Tim McSherry, wife Lisa. Five Grandchildren, Amber (Aaron), Dustin (Carly), Chris (Lauren), Tyler (Morgan), Braden (Madison); and bonus grandchildren, Alex Reitmann, Aaron Gartenberg (Ashly) and Mikayla Maun (AJ) as well as many great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Keller) McSherry; brothers, Donald McSherry, John McSherry, Robert McSherry, Ralph McSherry and Roland McSherry; and sisters, Clair Reed, Jane Miller, Mary Bartles, and Rose Thompson.

The family will have a Private Service.
