Verda Venette Phetteplace, 82, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023. She was born on October 21, 1940 to the late John Robert Poole and Julia Clopper Poole.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Phetteplace, her grandson, Chad Sweigert, her son-in-law, Adam Billman, three brothers, and two sisters.

Verda is survived by her children, Sheila Sweigert and her husband, Roger, Teresa Billman-Morningstar and her husband, Terry, John Phetteplace and his wife, Donna, and Sean Phetteplace and his wife, Nancy, her grandchildren, Jack Billman and his wife, Ashley, Jason Sweigert and his partner, Megan, Jeromy Sweigert, Clint Billman and his wife, Olga, and Brandon Billman, her grandfurbabies, Athena, Hanger, Nyx, Stella, Styx, and Kane, her great-grandchildren, Michael Billman, Sara Billman, Alexis Sweigert, Grace Billman and her husband, Richard Chalk, Jacob Sweigert, Matthew Billman, Joey Billman, Josh Billman, and Reagyn Weeks, her great-greatgrandchildren, Luke Billman and Idalia Chalk, her sister, Colleen Haupt and her husband, Carl, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved furbaby, Peanut.

Family and friends are welcomed for a graveside service on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 11:00am at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 South Potomac Street in Hagerstown. Rev. Ernest Witmer will officiate.
