THOMAS SCHLEIGH WHITE, JR. 74, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Meritus Medical Center.
Born, December 26, 1942 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Thomas Schleigh White, Sr. and Clara Grace Brunner Sponaugle.
Thomas was employed at Mack Trucks for 35 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of Amvets Post 10, Eagles, Hagerstown and Funkstown Moose, and the Williamsport Redmen. Thomas was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Hagerstown for many years and recently of Hagerstown First Church of God. Tom loved old cars, music, and simpler times. He was passionate about his country and the men and women that have served it.
Thomas is survived by a son, Thomas S. White, III and his girlfriend, Toby Long, and their children Tiernen and Gracen; a step-daughter, Michelle Lynn Hornbaker and her children Bobbie Jean, Tyler, Jessica, Michelle and Brittany; a sister Christine L. Saur; a brother, Timothy White; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Kotval and Linda Stenger; step-father Robert Sponaugle; and step-mother Edna White.
A celebration of Toms life will be held from 1pm-3pm on Saturday, November 4th at The AMVETS, Post 10, 770 Frederick St., in Hagerstown. The Rev. David Sword will officiate a blessing of a meal and prayers at 1pm.
