Thomas Shamus VanMetre, 77, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at his home.

Born March 18, 1949 in Jefferson County, WV, he was the son of the late Willis Powell and Edna (Snyder) VanMetre. Thomas is the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Kimble) VanMetre; his son, Stephen Gregory VanMetre; one granddaughter, Emily DeNote; and one great-granddaughter, Lily DeNote.

The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD, on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 6:00-8:00pm.

The funeral will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the funeral home. Rev. Don Stevenson will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
