Obituary

Thomas Livingston McCubbin, 93, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023. He was born on March 29, 1929 in Halfway, MD to the late Thomas Clenard McCubbin and Eleanora Bowman McCubbin.

Thomas graduated from Hagerstown High School in the class of 1947. He attended Hagerstown Junior College and graduated from Johns Hopkins University class of 1952. He served with the United States Army during the Korean War and with the Army Reserves until 1980, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Thomas was a member of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution, the Military Officers Association of America, the Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 in Hagerstown, the former Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1936, and the Elks Lodge #378 of Hagerstown. Thomas retired from the Pangborn Corporation in 1991 after 45 years of service. He was a lifetime member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hagerstown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Betty Lee McCubbin, his sisters, Barbara McCubbin and Margaret Anderson, and his great-grandson, Steven Leslie Kerns.

Thomas is survived by his children, Thomas Livingston McCubbin II and his wife, Sharlene, and Mary Catherine Butler and her husband, Michael, his grandchildren, Megan Brittain (Joseph), Katie Fierros (Steven), Jessica Kaye (David), Robert Kerns (Elizabeth), and Jennifer Pike (Joseph), his great-grandchildren, Betty Brittain, Jaden Fierros, Steven Fierros, Bella Fierros, Leimomi Kaye, Silas Kaye, Laila Kaye, Daniel Kerns, and Elaina Kerns, and several beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Family and friends are welcomed for a visitation on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard in Hagerstown.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 11:00am at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.
