THOMAS FRANKLIN "PETE" HARNISH, JR., 85, of 425 South Burhans Boulevard East, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital. Born January 8, 1925 in Washington County, Maryland, he was the son of the late Thomas Franklin Harnish, Sr. and Fannie E. Mason Harnish. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Louise Lizor Harnish in 1980. Pete was employed by M. C. I. for twenty years, retiring in 1985. He was a volunteer EMT with the Williamsport Ambulance Service, and enjoyed operating his own carpentry business "Harnish's Carpentry Service". He was a member of the Morris Frock Post 42, American Legion, Sons of Legion; B.P.O.Elks 378; and the Williamsport Red Men Lodge 84. He is survived by his second wife, Mamie Viola Harnish; three daughters, Beverly Pendleton of Florida, Pamela Stottlemyer of Hagerstown, and Linda Maginnis of Greensboro, North Carolina; three sons, Thomas Rory Harnish, and Ricky Franklin Harnish, both of Baltimore, Maryland, and Michael Lynn Harnish of Hagerstown; three sisters, Fern Weaver of Hagerstown, Loretta Klima of Baltimore, Maryland, and Theabelle Eddy of Hancock, Maryland; two brothers, Lawrence Harnish of Hagerstown, and James Melvin Harnish of Hagerstown; two step-sons, Terry Lee Youngblood of Hagerstown, and Earl R. Eckard, Jr. of Williamsport, Maryland; three step-daughters, Linda Sylvester, Brenda Baker, and Tina Eichelberger, all of Hagerstown; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, and twenty step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Harnish. Funeral services will be held at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown on Friday at 11:00 a. m. Pastor Ronald K. Faith will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 to 9 p. m.
