Thelma Madeline Nicodemus, 85, of Hagerstown, passed away, Friday, December 16, 2022, at Doey's House.

Born September 28, 1937, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Nellie (Moats) Eavey.

Thelma was a seamstress by trade. She was previously employed at Londontown in Boonsboro; Leeds Men's Ware; the commissary at Fort Ritchie; Food Lion; and Washington County Hospital. She was a member of Funkstown American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary; and the Amvets.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gilbert R. Shumaker, Sr. and her second husband, Elmer Nicodemus; one son, Gilbert R. Shumaker, Jr.; and by brothers.

Thelma is survived by three daughters, Anna Bond, Chris Karn, and Kathy Moore; one son, Tony Shumaker; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11am Friday, December 23, 2022, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Rev. Robert Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, December 22, 2022, from 7-9pm.
