THELMA FRANCES BENNER, 90, of 13831 Countryside Drive, Maugansville, Maryland, died on Friday, May 14, 2010 at her home. Born September 19, 1919 in Groton, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Noah Samuel and Christy Mae Ross Riggin. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Arthur Benner. She was retired from the Maryland State Police. She is survived by one daughter, Katherine Mae Benner of Westover, Maryland; one sister, Ruth Friedmann of Baltimore, Maryland; three grandchildren, John Myers, and wife Gail, of Salisbury, Maryland, Bill Houck, III, and wife, Donnett, of Maugansville, Maryland, Michael Houck, and wife Annette, of Westover, Maryland; and fifteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by one brother, Horace Riggin. Funeral services will be held at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown on Tuesday at 10:30 a. m. Chaplain with Hospice of Washington County, Sally Maxwell and Rev. Allen Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland on Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday one and half-hour prior to the service.
