Sydney E. Appenzellar, 94, of Hagerstown, MD., passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Doey's House. Born July 11, 1927, in Williamsport, Maryland, Sydney is the daughter of the Late William and Beulah (Nave) Chaney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Jones, and nephew John Jones. A graduate of Williamsport High School class of 1945, Sydney worked as an administrative assistant at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown. Following her marriage to David Appenzellar in 1948, she became a full-time mother and homemaker, creating an inviting home for her two sons and many of the neighborhood baby boomers. Sydney is survived by her husband of 74 years, David Appenzellar, son Wayne Appenzellar (Carol), son Mark (Alison), special nephews Milford Jones (Yu) and Leonard Jones (Debbie), and grandchildren Jordan and Emily and their families. Funeral services will be held at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
