Steven Kenneth Fehlauer went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Meritus Hospital.
Steve was born on November 27, 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland and was the first son of Phyllis and Kenneth Fehlauer. He is survived by his parents, one brother, Jeffery Fehlauer and one niece, Jessica Salvagno, her husband Timothy and their baby daughter, Gabrielle Grace Salvagno.
Steve's family moved to Hagerstown, MD in 1965 where they made their life, grew together and laughed often.
Steve grew up at Trinity Lutheran Church and while attending church camp at Mar Lu Ridge, he found Jesus. His life was always anchored with HIM and we know that Steve is safe and strong again now.
Steve was very active in Boy Scouts (Life Scout) and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved reading, music, animals and had a clever sense of humor. He especially enjoyed the many weekends at Coolfont with his family over the years.
Steve graduated from South High in 1978 where he played soccer for several years and enjoyed art. He then attended the Art Institute of Pittsburg and also Shepherd College.
Steve studied computers for a year at the James Rumsey Technical Center and graduated on the Dean's List. He remained active in church all his life and was a member of the CBMC (Christian Business Men's Connection.) He loved mission work and went to El Salvador twice and also to Nicaragua. He knew early that Serving Others was the primary mission for his life.
Steve also attended Antietam Bible School last year and planned to pursue missionary work there until his health failed. He was extremely well read and discovered that he had a talent for writing. He was a charter member of WRITERS of the DESERT ROSE CAF and self-published a collection of short stories last year. A few days before he passed, while in pain, he still found the strength to help out the animals at the Humane Society, where he volunteered.
With his Faith and the blessings of his family whom loved him dearly, he made himself into a truly remarkable human being. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at The Life House Church located at 515 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown, Md. 21740. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. The Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 P.M. A burial ceremony in Baltimore will be held at the family's convenience.
