Stephanie Ruth Marcum, a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and healthcare professional, passed away on the 22nd of November 2024, at the age of 34, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Born on March 12, 1990, in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of Alicia (Stone) Marcum of Hagerstown and the late Charles Marcum.
In addition to her mother, she will be missed by her brother, Justin Marcum (Ashley Brown); her sisters, Rachael Miller and Miranda Coplin (Thomas) and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her father in 2013, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Ruth "Deanie" Stone.
Stephanie's educational journey exemplified her zest for life and learning. A 2008 graduate of Brunswick High School, she carried her passion for knowledge and keen intellect into higher education. She attended Wake Forest University, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2012. Her aspirations in healthcare led her to complete her Masters as a Physician Assistant in 2014.
As a Physician Assistant, Stephanie's professional life was marked by a deep and unwavering dedication to patient care. Described by colleagues as having a sparkle that could brighten the darkest of rooms, her enthusiasm for her work was evident to all who had the pleasure of working alongside her. In 2016, she bought a house in Richmond, Virginia, and moved to Ft Lauderdale, Florida in 2022. There, she continued to selflessly attend to the needs of her patients, earning the respect and affection of her medical team and all whose lives she touched. Everyone will miss her sparkle.
Funeral services will be 1pm Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD with Rev. Kevin Smoot officiating. Burial will be in Funkstown Cemetery, Funkstown, MD.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 9, 2024 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
