SHIRLEY ANN GEARHART, 78, of Hagerstown, and formerly of Boonsboro, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Somerford Assisted Living in Hagerstown, MD. Born January 6, 1936 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Lewis (Sam) Doyle and Edna Forrest Doyle. She graduated from Boonsboro High School. She was formerly employed with Peoples Drug Store as a waitress at Longmedow Shopping Plaza in the 1960's. She loved yard sales and dogs. She was a quilter like her mother and loved arts and crafts. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Ward Gearhart, August 2, 1996. She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia K. Gearhart and Melinda Diane Banzhoff and husband, Darryl " Butch " all of Hagerstown; one sister, Elaine Semler of Columbia, Md.; one brother, Raymond Doyle of West Virginia; one grandchild, Rachel Shank, and nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Friday, March 7, 1:00pm at Boonsboro Cemetery in Boonsboro, Md. Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate.
