Sharon I. Hughes, born November 22, 1940, loved to travel and just took her last trip to meet her Heavenly Father. She loved God and was eagerly awaiting the return of her Savior Jesus Christ.

Sharon was born in Hagerstown, MD. Her parents were James M. Resh, Sr. and Ellen E. Resh, who started and ran the Hagerstown Union Rescue Mission until they passed.

Her favorite places to travel were Bora Bora in the South Pacific and Hawaii. She was passionate about cooking and baking, especially pies. She also loved growing vegetables and flowers.

Sharon was married to the love of her life, Henry W. Hughes, for 63 years. He was her special love forever.

She graduated from South High and attended Washington County School of Nursing and Moreno Institute in Beacon, NY. Later, she managed the Rescue Mission Thrift Stores for her father and mother.

Sharon was the proud mother of four children; Darryl W. Hughes (wife, Anne), Melanie K. Witmer (husband, Keith), Michelle R. Rizer (husband, Brian), and Andrea B. Reaves (husband, Dr. Bradford Reaves, who is her pastor); five grandchildren, Holly Hughes, Tyler Clipp, Kacey Hughes, Jacob Hughes, and Noah Reaves; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorcas Black, Laurel Walker, Rebecca Shank (husband, Bruce "Sonny" Shank), and one brother, James M. Resh, Jr. (wife, Barbara).

She attended Crossway Christian Fellowship in Hagerstown.

Services will be held 11am Friday, May 12, 2023, at Crossway Christian Fellowship, 18501 Maugans Ave., Ste. 105, Hagerstown, MD 21742. Dr. Bradford Reaves will officiate. Burial will be in Broadfording Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 6 to 8pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossway Christian Fellowship.
