SARAH LOUISE RICE, 89, a resident of Ravenwood Lutheran Village, died Sunday, July 3, 2005 at the Washington County Hospital. Born October 5, 1915 in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late William and Susan Baker Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lee Rice in 1979. She was employed with the Washington County Hospital retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Gray Ladies at the Washington County Hospital, the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary, Ravenwood Lutheran Village volunteers and also volunteered with other agencies in Washington County. She is survived by one step daughter, Audrey M. Hamm of Hagerstown, Maryland; one step son, Marvin L. Rice of Greencastle, Pennsylvania; one sister, Lugarda Recard of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Elvin Smith and half brother, John Smith. Services will be Wednesday at 11:00am at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. with Rev. Kenneth Hawes officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion U.M. Cemetery in Myersville, Maryland. The family will receive friends Tuesday 7:00-9:00pm at the funeral home.
