Sara Catherine Ridenour, 83, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away, Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Fahrney-Keedy Home.
Born June 7, 1941, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Deiterich) Lawrence.
Sara's first job was at Chatkin's Drug Store and she loved talking about that job. She did secretarial work and bookkeeping for Horst Milk Transfer and Montgomery Ward. Sara was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Edward Ridenour, Sr. She was set to become a telephone operator and receive her training in Baltimore, when she met and fell in love with Jim. Her plans changed and they married on January 15, 1960.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Barnhart and Barbara Myers.
Sara is survived by two daughters, Susan Lynn (Darrin) and Cynthia Sharrar (Marc); one son, James Ridenour, Jr. (Rachel); one sister, Jeanne Small; one brother, Bob Lawrence; eight grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
