RUTH LORRETTA HUMMEL, 70, of 17425 Apple Blossom Court, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at her home. Born December 22, 1938 in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Isabelle Lewis Shoemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard T. Hummel Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Paula Johnson, and Vicki Wheeler, both of Gillette, Wyoming; two sons, Paul Bowen Jr., and Richard Hummel Jr., both of Gillette, Wyoming; one sister, Dorothy Shaffer of Hagerstown; and one brother, Frank Johnston of Parkton, North Carolina; grandchildren, Robert A. Johnson, Ryan J. Johnson, Michael Bowen, Ashley Vaughn, Kelsay Wheeler, Samantha Wheeler and Brooke Hummel; great grandddaughter, Jordyn A. Johnson. She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Clark. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p. m. Sunday, March 29, 2009 at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Rev. Susan Boehl will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
