Ruth Lucille
Conway
Sep 18, 1925 — Aug 1, 2025
Ruth Lucille Conway, 99, past resident of Falling Waters, WV and Boonsboro, MD passed away Friday, August 1, 2025, at Somerford House in Hagerstown, MD.
Born Sept. 18, 1925, in Beaver Creek, MD, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Baker and Flora Naomi (Hoffman) Bowers.
Ruth worked at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Aberdeen, MD after graduating high school in North East, MD. She met Curtis "Bud" Leroy Conway, who she would marry in 1946 after his return from serving in WWII. His work with the state parks had them move several times during their marriage and she became a mother and homemaker. They raised five children, and she later worked at Fahrney Keedy, assisting patients with physical therapy.
They were married for 68 years before his passing in 2014.
She was a long-time member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Williamsport.
"Nanny" as she was lovingly called, was known for being at all her kid's sporting events, helping them move or paint their homes, babysitting the grandkids, and favorites like her pecan rolls, peanut butter fudge, zucchini bread, black raspberry pie, and the best roast beef dinner. What this really means is that she will be greatly missed for her love of family, dedication, hard work, strength, love, and support.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, husband, and 10 of her siblings. She is survived by her sister, Dorothea Heavner, daughters Bonnie Powell and Linda Shank (Gary) and her three sons, Curt (Donna), Dave (Mindie), and Mike (Howie). She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Chad Powell, Brett Shank (Courtney), Jaime Glenn (Butch), Brad Conway, Angie Schultz (Steve), Mandie Trevey (Kevin), Josh Conway (Mollie), Nick Conway, and Ashley Conway. Also surviving her are 11 great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held Tuesday, August 5th from 6-8pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Graveside service will take place on Wednesday, August 6th, at 10am at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 W. Washington St., Hagerstown. A gathering of family and friends will follow at Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Williamsport.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Somerford House for the care they have provided for Mom over the last 11 years. Thank you also to the staff of Meritus Medical Center and Hospice of Washington County.
