Ruth Elizabeth Bennett left her earthly home to be with God on December 8, 2022. She was born October 2, 1933, in Hagerstown, MD and was the daughter of the late Earl Bennett, Sr. and Ruth Bennett.

Preceding her in death were her sisters, Virginia Bennett and Sadie Robinson, brother, Earl Bennett, Jr. and nephew, Doctor Joseph Robinson, who was a bright star in Ruth's life.

Before her retirement, Ruth taught school for over 30 years in the Washington County (Maryland) School System. Because of the love she had for her young students, she referred to them as "my children". To prepare for her life's work Ruth graduated from Bowie State University (Bowie, MD) and Columbia University (New York, NY) with a Masters Degree in Education.

For many years her religious life was nourished at Zion Baptist Church, Hagerstown.

Ruth is survived by her loving brother Joseph Bennett (Florence), Greensboro, NC, many nieces and nephews and a host of other family members, friends, and students. Because of her love for others, she will be greatly missed.

Funeral service will be 1pm Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Pam Parson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service.
