Ruby Mable Hott, 91, of Sharpsburg, MD, passed into the arms of her Savior on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the home of her daughter after many years of poor and declining health. Ruby was born on May 27, 1927 in Slanesville, WV, to the late Ray and Hilda Rowzee Smoot. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be sorely missed by her three children: daughter, Jean Babb and husband, Dennis, of Monrovia, MD., son, Ernest C. Hott Jr. and partner, Brenda, of Sharpsburg, and son, Michael W. Hott and wife, Jean, of Arnold, MD.; five grandchildren: Kelly Hott-Hughes, Merritt Island, FL., Bradley Hott and wife, Tricia, of Hagerstown, Jason Hott and wife, Kelly, of Falling Waters, WV., Nicholas Babb and wife, Sneha, of Fairfax, VA. and Christopher Babb and wife, Heather, of Union Bridge, MD.; six great-grandchildren: Emily Hughes, Alyson Hughes, Hunter Hott, Connor Hott, Broc Pickett, Brodee Hott; one brother, Glen Smoot and wife, Vivian, of Williamsport, MD.; one sister-in-law, Claudine Smoot of Sharpsburg and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest C. Hott Sr.; one grandson: Nathan Babb; two brothers: Russell Smoot and Charles Smoot; four sisters: Violet Hott, Betty Wright, Flo House and Helen Martin. Ruby was baptized at the Manor Church of the Brethren and previously attended the Downsville Church of the Brethren and Victory Baptist Church, Boonsboro. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Kevin Smoot, Phil Hott and Kelly Hott-Hughes will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Boonsboro, MD. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, June 13, from 6 to 8 p.m., and beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
