Obituary

Roy L. Viar III, 81, peacefully passed away December 31, 2022, at Doey's House in Hagerstown, MD.

He was a gentle, loving, caring and wonderful man, beloved by his wife and best friend of 57 years, Elizabeth Rung Viar, and loving son, Dr. R. Lee Viar IV (Lori). He was the proud grandfather of Justin (Kayla Gloss), Brittany (Richard Riggs), Loraine (Timothy Barr), Ashley Viar (Humberto Soriano), Robertson Viar, and Alexis Viar, and proud great grandfather to Logan, Carson, Nora, Gracelynn, Isabella, Mason, and Lyndon. He is also fondly remembered and loved by his extended family.

Roy served with honor in the United States Air Force for four years. His experience in the Air Force played a very important role in his life and taught him the value of discipline, teamwork, and hard work. These values served him well in his career spanning 38 years as a UPS driver where he won numerous awards for safety and had a perfect driving record. He was also a proud 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Roy enjoyed spending time with family. He will be forever remembered for his beautiful smile, gentle eyes, caring heart, loving embrace, funny quips, and most importantly, his unconditional love. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in Heaven watching over us.

Roy was predeceased by his father, Roy Viar II, and mother, Doris.

A special thanks to the nurses and caregivers at Hospice of Washington County and Doey's House for your kindness and your tender care, and for all your help at the time of our loss.
