ROY LEON FUNKHOUSER of Williamsport, Maryland, died on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at his home. Born September 1, 1933 in Clear Spring, Maryland, he was the son of the late John C. Mullin and Mary C. Mullin Brown, and the adopted son of the late Paul R. Funkhouser and Inis F. Funkhouser. He graduated from Clear Spring High School in 1951. He served in the U. S. Navy for four years. Roy was retired from Peoples Security Life Insurance Company after thirty-four years service as an agent and sales manager. He was a member of the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church of Williamsport. He was a former member of Beaver Creek Country Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with the seniors at Beaver Creek. He also enjoyed all kinds of sports. Roy is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Gloria Arlene Shank Funkhouser; daughter, Julie Anne Funkhouser Ritchie, and husband Ronald F. Ritchie, of Williamsport, Maryland; grandson, Steven R. Ritchie of Tampa, Florida; granddaughter, Stephanie A. Ritchie Gasper, and husband Mark Gasper, of Hagerstown, Maryland; stepsister, Fay Brant, and husband Clair, of Greencastle, Pennsylvania; and close cousins, Mary Agnes Parsons and Anna Jean Stine, both of Woodsboro, Maryland. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a. m. Friday at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mark A. Sandell officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
