ROY WALLACE BOWERS, SR., 68, of Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at his home. Born May 5, 1940 in Williamsport, Maryland, he was the son of the late Omer Bruce and Bernice Elizabeth Fox Bowers. He was employed as a truck driver for forty-eight years, retiring from Bowman Trucking. He was a member of the Downsville Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Pearl Turner Bowers; one daughter, Jennifer Anne Bowers of Hagerstown; three sons, David L. Ebersole III of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Roy W. Bowers, Jr. of Hagerstown, and Brian L. Bowers of Smithsburg, Maryland; two sisters, Nancy Hawbecker of Clear Spring, Maryland, and Yvonne Eyler of Williamsport, Maryland; one brother, Eugene Bowers of Downsville, Maryland; two grandchildren, Kathreya Ebersole and Jackson Cole Shirley; and also surviving is his favorite dog, Sadie. He was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce A. Hillyard. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Monday at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Shawn Bushman will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard on Sunday from 6 to 8 p. m.
