Obituary

Ronald Eugene Hartman, 88, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on August 6, 2026, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born October 1, 1937, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Herman Hubert and Violet Florence (Smith) Hartman.

Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Virginia Hartman.

A 1955 graduate of Hagerstown High School, Ron spent his entire career as an auto mechanic. He retired from Mack Truck after 35 years of service. A lifelong car enthusiast, Ron enjoyed street rodding and attending car shows. He also enjoyed traveling, especially vacations to Ocean City. Ron was a member of Christ Community Church.

He is survived by his daughters, Debra Rhonda Curry and Linda Cherie Jones; three grandchildren, David Wayne Curry II and wife, Casie, Ryan Patrick Jones, and Lindsay Barr-ee Jones and husband, Travis; eight great-grandchildren, Josh, Brandon, Jade, Jordan, Jewlia, Chloe, Kameron, and Traelin; five great-great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

In addition to his wife and parents, Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Hartman Crist; two sons-in-law, Barry L. Jones and Thomas B. Slifer, Jr.; and two grandchildren, Travis K. Curry and Tyler W. Miller.

A viewing will be held at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD, on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
