RONALD LEE BENEDICT, 60, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Tuesday April 1, 2014 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Born October 21, 1953, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Ralph and Fay Elizabeth Tewalt Benedict. Ronald was a member of Washington Square United Methodist Church. He was passionately active in Civil War re-enacting and was proud to be a planner for their events. He also took Civil War presentations to local schools. Ronald is survived by his wife of 18 years, Barbara Benedict; two nieces, Jeanie Keefer-Kauffman and Denise Binkley; nephew, Steven Benedict; great niece, Kim Kauffman-Mitchell; great-great niece, Kalie Mitchell; and great-great nephew, Hunter Mitchell. In addition to his parents, Ronald was also preceded in death by a brother, Jay (Eddie) Benedict; two sisters, Edith Benedict Keefer and Ruby Martin Binkley. Services will be held Saturday, April 5, at 5pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Jerry Lowans will officiate.
