Obituary

Robert Anthony Scovitch, 78, of Hagerstown, Maryland joined his wife Linda Lou Scovitch (née McClure) in their heavenly home on Sunday, April 6 surrounded by his loving family. Robert brightened every room that he entered with a warm smile and unique ability to talk about any number of topics with anyone he would meet. Proud to be "Army strong," Robert was quick to crack a joke and possessed a rare zest for life; he would often start his mornings singing and reminiscing about many past and planned travels across the United States. First and foremost, he was an amazing father who loved his family deeply.

Born on December 5, 1946 in Riverdale, Maryland, Robert was the son of the late Joe and Blanche Scovitch. He graduated from High Point High School in 1964 and later earned a Bachelor's degree from Bowie State University. Robert was a proud Army veteran who had a successful career in sales for nearly 50 years including at WQCM Radio, WAYZ Radio, and Antietam Cable. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Robert is survived by his son Joe Scovitch (Lydia); daughter Kara Scovitch (Kyle); granddaughters Aria and Zoey; grandsons with expected due dates in April and May 2025; brother Leon Scovitch (Linda); sister Catherine Walsh (John); sister-in-law Debbie Kline (Pint); brother-in-law Doug McClure (Patty); brother-in-law Gary McClure; brother-in-law Wes Garrison; brother-in-law Ron Middaugh; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to Robert's wife Linda, and his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Barbara and Loretta, mother-in-law Betty Martin, father-in-law Harry Martin, and brother-in-law Robert McClure.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Minnich Funeral Home, located at 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown, Maryland from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service in Greenlawn Cemetery, Williamsport, Maryland.

Robert was an animal lover who enjoyed identifying "critters seen in his backyard" and adopting stray neighborhood cats. His family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Humane Society of Washington County at https://hswcmd.networkforgood.com/projects/58997-donate-now .
