Robert Charles Nilson, 94, of Hagerstown, passed away, Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Creekside Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.

Born March 15, 1931, in Overlea, MD, he was the son of the late Theodore Alvin and Elizabeth (Herrmann) Nilson.

Robert started at C & P Telephone Company in Hagerstown in 1948 where he worked his way up to Outside Plant Manager. He also spent four years in New York with A T & T. He served in the Maryland Army National Guard and received his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins.

He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, the Hagerstown Lion's Club, and of the Methodist faith.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Nilson.

He is survived by one daughter, Rev. Teri Nilson Baird; one son, Craig Nilson; two grandchildren, Christopher and Curtis Nilson; and three great grandchildren, Brynn, Conner, and Kacy Grace Nilson.

A Memorial service will be held at 5:30pm Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Rev. Randall Reid will officiate.
