ROBERT R. (BOB) SOWERS, 82, of Hagerstown, MD, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Born September 16, 1932 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Robert E. Sowers and Sarah J. Sneckenberger Sowers. Bob was a 1950 graduate of Hagerstown High School. He served in the Army during the Korean War, and was employed with the railroad system for 51 years. Bob was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association, the Williamsport Red Men Conococheague Tribe #84, and the American Legion. He was a member of the Ambassadors Sunday School Class and the Growers and Glowers of Maranatha Brethren Church. Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, P. Joanne (Jo) Sowers; one son, Roderick R. Sowers and wife, Josette; two grandsons, Christopher C. Sowers, and Jeremy A. Sowers and wife, Ashley; and one great granddaughter, Olivia. Funeral service will be 11am, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Rev. Dan Thornton will officiate. Interment will be at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Graveside military honors will be provided. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
