ROBERT "Bob" DAVID HORN, 84, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015 at his home. Born May 15, 1931 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Beulah Marie Pomeroy Horn. Bob attended Hagerstown High School. As a boy he delivered newspapers. Bob worked at Danzer Metal Works, then for Fairchild-Hiller where he helped build the 1953 Fairchild C-119G "Flying Boxcar". He became Vice President of Horn Mechanical-Electrical Inc., and then founded Hopewell Sheet Metal, February 18, 1981, retiring December 31, 1995. After retirement, Bob enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sara Jean (Peck) Horn; two daughters, Diane Baker and husband, Mark, of Hagerstown, and Cheryl Mogensen and husband, Rick, of Hagerstown; one son, David Horn and wife, Heather, of Falling Waters, WV; one sister, Mary I. Shoop of Greencastle, PA; six grandchildren, Michael and Angie Mogensen, Taylor Horn, Jessica Baker, Ashley Pike, and Henry Fitzgerald; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his mother, Bob was preceded in death by one brother, George F. Horn, Jr.; and an Uncle, who was his father figure, Charles E. Horn. Services will be held 11am, Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. G. Stanley Steele will officiate. Private burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 7pm to 9pm at the funeral home.
