Robert "Bob" Irvin
Everly
Jul 1, 1937 — Jun 19, 2025
Robert (Bob) Irvin Everly, 87, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Coffman Nursing Home under Hospice care.
Born July 1,1937 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Harry Grafton and Clara Estelle (Sprecher) Everly.
Bob graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1955, and joined the U.S. Marine Corp. Stationed in Camp Lejeune, NC, Parris Island, SC, and Morocco. While serving he was trained in Field Music as a Bugler. He later attended HJC, and Loyola College in Baltimore. He began his Real Estate career in 1961 while working in the drafting department at Pangborn Corp and later joined the Finance and Banking business working for Wayne Finance in Greencastle, PA, Home Federal, and First Federal as President of the Service Corp. in Hagerstown. Eventually becoming the owner/broker of Century 21 North Suburban and gradually winding down his career as a Real Estate Appraiser.
Bob was a lifelong lover of music and sports. When he was no longer able to participate in the Free Staters Drum and Bugle Corp or play league ball, he turned to sharing this love with others, primarily the youth of his community. His mentorship began by forming a little league team in Leitersburg, then coaching many teams at Pony League and officiating for baseball, football, and basketball games.
He continued to touch the lives of others, reflecting his deep commitment to both his faith and community by serving as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Treasurer at First Christian Church. He volunteered and was actively involved in numerous organizations, including Big Brothers, Sons of the American Legion, Morris Frock American Legion Post, Antietam Exchange Club, Elks Club, the Marine Corps League, the Blue Lodge Masons, Scottish Rite, and the Shriners. He was a proud 32nd degree Mason and member of both Beaver Creek and Fountainhead Country Clubs where he enjoyed many games of golf!
Bob aka Bob Bob is survived by his loving wife of almost 64 years, Barbara LaRue (Huff) Everly, his daughter, Barbara Allan (Everly) Wollard; grandson Michael Allan Wollard and wife, Holly; great grandson Calvin Michael Wollard; one brother, Ronald E. Everly and wife Linda, of La Plata, MD; and one sister-in-law, Joan Everly of Hagerstown; Godson Craig Everly; and many other family members including many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry L Everly and James L. Everly whom he looked forward to reuniting with in Heaven.
