Obituary

ROBERT (BOB) FRANKLIN DELAUTER, 76, of Falling Waters, WV, died after a short debilitating illness on Saturday, September 26, 2015. Born on November 2, 1938 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late John Cyrus and Anna Mae McKenrick DeLauter. He attended Thurmont High School. At age 16, he worked for M.J. Grove Lime Company for 15 years in construction helping to build many of the roads in Washington and Frederick Counties during the 1950-1960's. He then was an "over-the-road" truck driver for 20 years working for Ryder Truck Lines/P.I.E. After his retirement from Ryder/ P.I.E. he drove dump trucks for AL Long Company. Also, during his retirement he thoroughly enjoyed the many years of camping and traveling throughout the country visiting family and friends with his beloved wife. He enjoyed everywhere he went making sure that good times and memories were made along the way. Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Leona "Beth" DeLauter, to whom he was happily married. He is also survived by two daughters, Barbara Louise McNamee and her spouse Frederick, of Hedgesville, WV, and Brenda DeLauter Schroeder and her spouse Robert "Nick", of Brunswick, ME; grandchildren Derek McNamee, and spouse Eve, Ashley Decker and spouse Tim, Robert Schroeder Jr. and spouse Felicia, Allison Basquez and spouse Kalob, John Schroeder, and Danielle Schroeder; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Rev. W. Arthur Grahe and Rev. Larry Westcott will officiate. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service.
