Obituary

Enrique Francies Lopez 70 of Williamsport MD, affectionately known as Rick, Papa, Poppy, and occasionally "smartass," has taken his final ride on the great train of life. Born on December 15, 1955, in Manila, Philippines, Rick was the eldest of the Lopez clan, a title he wore with pride and a mischievous grin. He spent his youth traveling the world with his family, spreading chaos and laughter wherever they went, much to the delight of his parents and the dismay of his teachers.

Rick's love for adventure didn't stop at international borders. He brought his antics to Glen Arm, MD, and Westport, CT, before returning to Maryland in his twenties. He hiked the Appalachian Trail, worked a variety of jobs, and developed a passion for trains and Harley Davidson motorcycles. His mechanical curiosity led him to a career at Grumman and Carrier Corp., before he finally opened his own shop, South Mountain Mechanical Contractors Inc., in 2005.

In 1983, Rick's life took a turn when he met Paula on a blind date. Despite his reputation, he managed to charm her, and they spent their years raising their children in the Baltimore area before moving to Myersville, MD, in 2002. Rick's dream of living on a farm came true in his last eight years, where he enjoyed the company of his wife, daughter, and her family in Williamsport, MD.

Rick is now reunited with his beloved wife Paula, grandson Gabriel, parents Dr. Jesus and E. Joan Lopez, brother Joaquin, niece Carmen, and nephew Stephan. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter and love, survived by his daughter Michelle Lopez (Ben) of Williamsport, MD, son Chadd of Baltimore, MD, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Victoria (Steven), Christopher, Halee (Michaela), Cameron, Bradley, Alana, Elijah, Lydia, Natalie and Harper, family and friends who will undoubtedly carry on his spirit of fun.

Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date, where we can all share stories of Rick's legendary escapades and raise a glass to a life well-lived.
