Obituary

RICHARD NEIL "DICK" WOLFORD, SR., of 71 Crater Drive, Falling Waters, West Virginia, died Monday, March 2, 2009 at his home. Born September 11, 1927 in Hancock, MD he was the son of the late Harry C. and Marguerite Seville Wolford. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korea War. He retired from M.C.T.C. He was previously employed with Western Maryland Railroad and Acme Market. He was a member of the American Legion Post 297. He is survived by his wife Jeannette Wellinger (Myers) Wolford; two daughters, Rayetta June Reese and husband, Neil of Hickory, NC and Caroline Fairall and husband, Robert of Hagerstown, MD; two sons, Richard Neil Wolford, Jr. of Hagerstown, MD and Mark Christian Wolford of Irmo, SC; one brother, Paul Herbert Wolford of Williamsport, MD; grandchildren, Dennis Lee Strauss and wife, Holly of Taylorsville, NC, Mark Christian Wolford and wife, Nichole of SC, and Steven James Wolford; step grandchild, William Allen Boschert; great grandchildren, Nicholas Lee Strauss and Haylee Marie Strauss both of Taylorsville, NC. Dick always put his family first and loved dogs. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Fayre Ellen Gordon and Lavinia Jean; one brother, Harry Seville Wolford. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Hamdan and her entire staff. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown, Maryland. The Rev. Randall Reid will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401, Lymphoma Research Foundation, 115 Broadway, 13th Floor, New York, New York 10006 or Best Friends Animal Society, C/O Shelia Johnson, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah 84741-5000. .
