Obituary

Richard Wayne (Moe) Horner, 65, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Friday morning, May 1, 2026, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born June 29, 1960 in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Charles L. Stitely and Doris I. Horner.

Moe retired from Frederick County Communications as a 911 operator after 22 years. He worked at DC Communications for 8 years, Frederick Villa Apartments for 25 years and 8 years at Napa Auto Parts.

He was a life member of United Fire Co.#3, Citizens Truck Co.#4, and a member of Funkstown Fire Co.#10.

Moe enjoyed Nascar, hunting, taking care of the yard and his gardens, and working Co. 10's Firehouse BBQ's.

He was a proud Living Legacy Donor.

Moe is survived by his wife of 41 years, Holly Horner; sister, Cheryl Horner, brother, Kevin Stitely, and partner, Yvonne Yeakle; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Moe will be fondly remembered by many, including his longtime friend, Jeff Norris, and his sister-in-law, Debbie Stitely, and his beloved pets, Maggie, Charlie, and Cosmo.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Douglas; and sisters, Debbie, Patricia, Joyce, Linda, and Donna.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 6-8pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Funeral services will be held 11am Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Minnich Funeral Home.
