Obituary

Richard Lee Stallings, 85 formally of Fahrney-Keedy Nursing home, passed peacefully into his eternal lords' arms on November 14, 2023, at Meritus Medical Center after a brief illness.

Richard (Dick or Pap) Stallings was the son of Blair Lee and Elizabeth Hull Stallings. He was born in Hagerstown, Maryland on September 26, 1938. He graduated from Hagerstown High School class of 1956. He married Janice Alverna Martin in 1966. They together enjoyed memorable adventures until their only child Bryan was born in 1970, they were married for twenty-six years.

Richard is survived by his only child son Bryan and his wife Krista-Lynne, grandchildren Colleen Neogra, Peter Auge, Natalie Auge, Felicia Auge, Victoria-Sarene Thompson and Brynleigh Neogra. His current wife Grace Virginia and her children Holly Price (deceased), Carol Clayton, Karen Albaugh, Karl Mullendore, Charles David Mullendore, Leah Mullendore and Nan Hernandez along with their spouses, children and grandchildren.

Richard was a man of many talents, enjoying many different hobbies. He loved photography and processing his own film at home. An avid Ham Radio Operator from a love and interest involving electronics in high school. He shared and interest with his father in woodworking. In the 1960's he was involved in the Maryland Air National Guard. Richard also was an avid member of his churches a long-time member of Grace United Methodist as an Usher, Brownsville Church of the Brethren and later went to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown.

He also loved the fire department; he was a lifelong member serving in various roles with different companies. He started volunteering at Funkstown Volunteer Fire Department in the mid 1950 's holding the title of Second Assistant Chief. He also was the Recording Secretary at Longmeadow Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years. Richard was a member of two City of Hagerstown companies as well. He belonged to First Hose Fire Company Engine 1 where he was a chairman of the standing committee for numerous years and Independent Junior Fire Engine Company 3.

During the active time Richard served at First Hose Company, Blaine Synder and he poured lots of blood, sweat and tears into opening the Hagerstown Fire Museum. This project was very well loved by Richard and Blaine. Richard provided a lot of photographs along with new paper articles to help provide information about fires and other happenings in Hagerstown's history.

The 1946 Ahren's Fox (Slugger) that is housed at Engine 1 was both Richard and Blaine's most prized possession. The two of them both took a lot of pride in driving that vehicle, along with making sure it was always well maintained and looked prefect.

Richard's time spent at Independent Fire Engine Company 3 where he was a member and cared for the 1964 Mack Fire Truck.

Family will receive friends at Minnich's funeral home 415 E. Wilson Blvd, Hagerstown, Md. Viewing will take place on November 19, 2023, from 5-7 pm and his funeral on November 20th at 10 am at Minnich Funeral Home with interment to follow at Rest Haven cemetery; Hagerstown Maryland

Finally, the family would like to give thanks to the staff at Fahrney-Keedy Nursing home, and Meritus Medical Center, 4 West nursing staff specifically Mark, Molly, Shawn, Holly and Bobbi, who provided amazing compassionate care and dignity. Also, thanking Dr. Bahador his physician while there who provided him with compassionate care, understanding, and dignity.
