RICHARD WOODROW SMITH SR. (Smitty) 69, of Hagerstown, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 at his home. Born November 17, 1945 in Hancock, MD, he was the son of the late Carl W. and Gertrude Snyder Smith. Smitty was a member of the Western Maryland Sportsman Club. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Smith; two daughters, Lisa Watson and husband Chuck, Sabrina Hambleton and husband Josh all of Hagerstown; two sons, Richard Smith Jr. and partner Mark Simmons, David Smith and wife Jess, all of Hagerstown; four sisters, Janet, Ruth, Betty and Susie; two brothers, Hugh and Roger; four grandchildren, John and Christopher Trace, Angelina and Andrew Woodrow Smith; one great grandchild, Haley Trace; and his companions, Yellow Cat and Daisey Mae. In addition to his parents Smitty is preceded in death by two sisters, Helen and Hilda. Special thanks to his sister Betty for taking such good care of him. Services will be held Thursday, May 7, 11:00 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E Wilson Blvd. Hagerstown, MD. 21740. Rev. Jim Davies will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will received friends Wednesday, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to defray funeral expenses.
