RICHARD W. SCOTT, 78, of Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Monday, January 29, 2007 at the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown. He lived many years in Little Oreleans. Born July 25, 1928 in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Walter and Mayetta Metcalfe Scott. He served in the U. S. Army. He retired from Conrail after thirty-six years. He was a member of the American Legion, Mercersburg #517; and a life member of the North American Rod & Gun Club, and the South Mountain Rod & Gun Club. He is survived by his wife, Sara Scott; two daughters, Deborah Hoover, and husband Geary, of Hagerstown, and Pam Scott of Hagerstown; three sons, Richard L. Scott of Hagerstown, David Williams, and wife Chris, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Bill Grove, and Cinnamon, of Hagerstown; two sisters, Patsy Fessler of Wichita, Kansas, and Joan Metcalfe Barnhart of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; and best friend, Teasha. He was preceded in death by one son, Steve Williams. He will be sadly missed by many family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p. m. Thursday at the MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Pastor James R. Hoffer will officiate. Burial will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery in Flintstone, Maryland. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p. m.
