Richard "Dick" Wolfinger Nigh, 94, of Funkstown, MD, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022.  Born April 14, 1928, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Martha E. (Delauter) Nigh.

In 2014, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, June A'Lee Nigh.

Dick served as a Town Councilmen for Funkstown from 1998 until retirement in 2014. He was employed with the state of Maryland Department of Corrections at MCTC for 28 ½ years. His prior employment was 17 years with M.P. Moller, and 2 years as Bailiff at Circuit Court of Washington County.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown where he served on the Property Committee, was an Usher for many years, and served three terms on the Church Council. He was also a member of the Funkstown American Legion Post 211, the Korean Veterans Last Mans Club-Morris Frock Post 42, and was a representative to Joint Veterans Council of Washington County.

Dick is survived by his daughter, Barbara J. Tingle; son, Robert H. Nigh; four grandchildren, Bryan Tingle, Anneke Loggie, Brandon Nigh, and Brittany Shaffer; eight great grandchildren, Bryce, Brody, Elijah, Isaiah, Rhylan, Kearan, Declan, and Emmy.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Frances A. Karn; and three brothers, Paul E. Nigh, Howard L. Nigh, and Edwin L. Nigh.

The funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Lee Brumback will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
