Richard "Dick" A. Myers, Jr., 77, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at his home.
Born March 25, 1947, in Leitersburg, MD, he was the son of the late Richard A. Myers, Sr. and Violet P. (Morningstar) Myers.
Dick was of the Lutheran faith. He was a 1965 graduate of North Hagerstown High School. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Vietnam Era.
He learned the electrical trade by working for a contractor and friends in the area, including the Pentagon and Goodard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. He worked various other jobs before going to M.P. Moller as their plant electrician, working there till their closing. He then went on to Pangborn Corporation as a machine operator.
He was a 50-year member of Moris Frock American Legion Post #42 and a lifetime member of American Rod and Gun Club.
Dick was an avid sports fan of NASCAR, football, golf, and baseball, and he liked to tinker with wood.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. (Easton) Myers; his brother, Denny Myers and wife, Nancy, of Hagerstown; Aunt Betty Crawford of Salem, VA; sister-in-law, Betty Werry; nephews, Richard Werry and Donnie McMillian and wife, Connie of Hagerstown, nephew, Brian Myers and wife, Erin, and their children, Austin and Olivia, of Hagerstown, MD; and nephew, Lynn Staley, and niece, Sandy McPherson of Hagerstown, MD.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Bonnie Staley.
Special thanks to Hospice of Washington County and all of their caring nurses and staff, to his personal caregivers, Mary Harbaugh and Cindy Panicola, and his pulmonary consultant, Stacie Wolfe, who he thought the world of for her understanding what he was going through.
The funeral will be held at 11am on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Virgil Cain will officiate.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (10am). Burial will be in Leitersburg Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #42.
