RICHARD EUGENE "DICK" GOWER, SR. 70, oF 337 Ridge Avenue, died Monday, June 16, 2008 at his home. Born January 12, 1938 in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late, Harry H. and Mary M. Montgomery Gower. He served in the U.S. Army. He was employed with East Alco in Frederick, MD. He was a member of the Western Enterprise Fire Company and the United Steel Workers of America No. 7786-00. She is survived by his wife, Joan Gower; one son, Richard E. Gower, Jr. of Hagerstown, MD; three sisters, Cora Koontz, Gloria Basore and Judy Chaney all of Hagerstown, MD; two brothers, Rev. Charles Gower of Martinsburg, WV and Rev. Robert Gower of Manassas, VA; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Cleora Forsyth, Lula Miller, Betty Powichroski and Mary Lee Hall; two brothers, Pete Cower and Larry Cower. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown, Maryland. The Revs. Charles Gower and Robert Gower will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. and from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. before the service on Friday.
