Chief Warrant Officer (Ret) Richard F. (Dick) Jordan Sr. died January 29, 2015 at Meritus Medical Center. Born January 19, 1925 in Hagerstown he was the son of the late Ernest and Irene Goetz Jordan. Dick began his military career in 1942 when he enlisted in the United States Navy and ended his Navy career on March 17, 1951. On March 18, 1951, he entered the Maryland Army National Guard and served until his retirement in January 1985. From 1985 to September of 2012 he was employed with the Maryland Military Department as Reservation Manager of an Army National Guard (Gunpowder Military Reservation). As of September1. 2012 his overall years of service within the military was 70 years, 4 months, 12 days. He was also a member of the Maryland World War II Memorial Commission and Department of Maryland Commander 29th Division Association. Dick is survived by one daughter, Sherry Kirby of Williamsport; one son, Richard F. Jordan, Jr.and his wife Patricia of Hagerstown; Sister, Jeanine Crawford of Hagerstown; four grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Hazel Mae Jordan; one daughter, Linda Vance. Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd, Hagerstown. Chaplain John W. Schildt will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Maryland National Guard.
